RIP Ntozake Shange 1948-2018

Activist and wordsmith Ntozake Shange, best known as the creator of the choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, died in Maryland yesterday, aged 70. Shange belonged to that generation of poets for whom the barrier between words and music (especially jazz) was fluid and gloriously permeable.
